Attractive salary package, bonus, 28 days annual leave, and medical insurance
This Technical Programme Manager role offers the opportunity to join a growing semiconductor and systems design business at a pivotal stage of its development. Backed by multiple newly secured R&D programmes, the company is scaling rapidly and building a team focused on solving some of the most challenging problems in secure Edge AI and advanced electronics. If you enjoy turning ambitious technical ideas into real-world delivery, this is a chance to have a visible impact on both the business and the next generation of engineers.
The role is based in South Wales, operating predominantly on-site with hybrid flexibility, reflecting the highly collaborative nature of the business and the importance of working closely with technical teams. You’ll be joining a company with significant growth plans and a clear technical vision. Rather than stepping into an established structure, you’ll help build one. The role offers exposure to advanced semiconductor and Edge AI technologies, the opportunity to mentor emerging engineering talent, and the chance to play a key role in shaping the future direction of a growing deep-tech business.
Our client is building a next-generation design house focused on secure Edge AI systems, semiconductor technologies and advanced electronics. What makes this opportunity unique is the combination of cutting-edge R&D, commercial delivery and talent development. You’ll be managing complex programmes while helping shape a growing engineering organisation that is investing heavily in future talent and technical capability.
As the Technical Programme Manager, you’ll take ownership of multiple R&D and commercial programmes, ensuring projects remain aligned, funded work is delivered successfully, and technical teams have the structure needed to execute effectively.
Responsibilities include
* Leading multiple grant-funded and commercial technology programmes simultaneously.
* Coordinating engineers, consortium partners, suppliers and external stakeholders.
* Building realistic delivery plans, milestones, risk registers and reporting frameworks.
* Working closely with technical leads to challenge assumptions and identify delivery risks early.
* Supporting Innovate UK and collaborative R&D programme delivery, reporting and governance.
* Mentoring and supporting graduate engineers as the organisation continues to grow.
* Helping create scalable programme management processes within a startup environment.
What you’ll bring
* Experience managing R&D or technology development programmes in a deep-tech environment.
* Strong understanding of engineering development lifecycles and technical project realities.
* Experience with Innovate UK, CR&D or other grant-funded programmes is highly desirable.
* Ability to challenge technical teams constructively and drive accountability.
* Startup mentality with a practical, hands-on approach.
* Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
* Interest or experience in semiconductors, AI hardware, electronics, embedded systems or related technologies.
