PLEASE NOTE it is a requirement of this Trust that all successful applicants pay for their DBS certificate if a check is required for the post. All new entrants to the NHS will be appointed on the minimum of the pay scale in line with Terms & Conditions. Applications are invited for the above post based within the Maternity department. The post holder will provide an efficient, friendly and, above all, confidential reception service to the unit, as well as efficient and effective data entry to support the various computer systems used in the department. You will also work closely with medical professionals including Doctors, Nurses, Midwives and GPs providing support where necessary. The post holder will provide a high quality clerical service to the Maternity reception with the aim to facilitate and enhance the quality and availability of patient information to the Clinical and Administration Team.
Responsibilities
* Provide an efficient and friendly service to patients, visitors and colleagues, handling enquiries promptly.
* Ensure all patient details entered onto Careflow are correct and carried out in a timely manner.
* Assist nursing and midwifery staff in ensuring that the highest possible standard of patient care is achieved.
* Maintain confidentiality.
\>Provide an efficient and friendly service to patients, visitors and colleagues either at reception or by telephone.
* Liaise with staff on the unit and hospital security staff to ensure the safety and security of mothers and babies on the unit.
* Liaise with wards regarding Admissions, Transfers and Discharges and prepare relevant documentation and enter data onto Careflow.
* Coordinate and distribute discharges to appropriate health care professionals.
* Coordinate and track patient notes (requesting/ locating, tracking on filefast, notes transfer/return and orphan filing) or information.
Qualifications and Experience
* Excellent communication/interpersonal skills, a good telephone manner and an ability and willingness to support other team members.
* IT skills, previous clerical experience, and experience of data entry are essential.
* Knowledge of Careflow and experience of working in a hospital/care environment are desirable.
