We’re looking for a Learning & Development Training Specialist to join the People team on a fixed term contract, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of customer experience at Metrolink. This exciting contract offers the chance to create innovative, high-impact learning that empowers our people to deliver exceptional service every day. No two days will be the same as you design and deliver engaging programmes that truly make a difference.
Working closely with the Customer Directorate and partnering with the L&D Manager, you’ll collaborate with passionate stakeholders to bring our customer service and leadership strategies to life. Your creativity and expertise will help build a culture of continuous improvement, inspiring teams to grow, thrive, and feel supported to be at their best.
Key accountabilities will include:
* Identify learning needs by working closely with KAM learners and key stakeholders, using effective communication and insight to shape targeted training solutions.
* Design creative, blended learning experiences that are interactive, engaging and aligned with adult learning principles and best practice learning methodologies.
* Prepare and deliver high-quality training that meets agreed L&D standards, ensuring sessions are dynamic, inclusive and impactful.
* Assess learner competence and capability, evaluating the application of skills and knowledge while identifying development opportunities and recommending appropriate solutions.
* Drive continuous improvement by evaluating learning effectiveness, capturing feedback, and enhancing training content and delivery methods.
* Maintain high standards of compliance and safety, ensuring accurate training records, following life-saving rules, and delivering all training safely while reporting incidents through the appropriate channels.
What you’ll bring:
* Proven experience in a customer service environment, ideally within transport or another safety-focused organisation.
* Experience in training, coaching or developing others, including learning design, delivery and assessment.
* Knowledge of digital learning solutions and an understanding of KAM, its values, and ways of working.
* Strong understanding of the learning & development cycle, with the ability to apply it creatively and effectively.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the confidence to present, facilitate, and adapt in the moment.
* Ability to build and maintain positive relationships at all levels, working collaboratively and sharing knowledge within a team.
* A creative, solution-focused mindset, bringing innovative ideas and digital approaches to training where appropriate.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and adapt to change.
* Confidence in giving and receiving constructive feedback, creating a supportive and motivating learning environment.
* Excellent IT skills, particularly across Microsoft Office 365 and digital learning tools.
* Demonstrates strong values and behaviours, with a commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and role-modelling best practice.
What we will offer you:
* Salary is £42k - £47k per annum, depending on skills and experience
* 12 month FTC, working full time 37.5 hrs per week
