Our highly-motivated English department is actively engaged in an integrated programme of reading, writing, speaking and listening and drama activities. Assessment for learning, motivational teaching and positive relationships are cornerstones of the department’s philosophy.
At Key Stage 3, all students follow engaging schemes of work that are taught in a highly creative and engaging learning environment. At Key Stages 3 and 4, students are generally taught in mixed-ability groups, although there is a single Grammar Plus set in each of the timetabling bands. We follow the AQA specification for GCSE.
At A Level, English Literature (Edexcel) and English Language and Literature (AQA) are consistently amongst the most popular subject choices of sixth form students.
