We are looking to recruit a Regional Merchandiser, who will be responsible for implementing the Hillier merchandising strategy throughout the garden centres within a geographic region, whilst taking a leading role in upskilling the centre teams to ensure that visual merchandising standards are met and maintained. This is a newly created role, so the successful candidate will have a unique and exciting opportunity to shape the role as it evolves.
Reporting into the Garden Centre Area Manager, the Regional Merchandiser will also work closely with the central Merchandising Team in order to keep up to date with merchandising initiatives to ensure consistency across all Hillier Garden Centres.
We are offering a competitive salary, depending on experience. In addition, there is an option to join the Hillier Group Pension Scheme, with enhanced pension contribution rates and life assurance cover. An employee discount of 20% is also provided.
This role will require frequent travel across Hampshire, Sussex and East Surrey, although travel to other locations may sometimes be required. Some overnight stays (although not frequent) may also be required. It is essential that the successful candidate holds a full and valid UK driving license.
Key responsibilities:
1. Maintain great brand standards in all centres within your region
2. Implement the Hiller merchandising strategy utilising all available tools including planograms, campaign guidelines, VM tools etc.
3. Support the central Merchandising Team to set up key launches
4. Create zone and block plans with your centre teams for key launches
5. Help to plan and have an input into monthly meetings with our Merchandising Champion population
6. Ensure equipment and POS is correctly implemented and collate centre orders where necessary
7. Keep an open dialogue with the central Merchandising Team to feedback successes and challenges in the field
8. Educate and coach the centre teams on best practice
9. Where necessary provide feedback to centre management and create action plans where brand standards are not met
10. During centre redevelopments work closely with the central Merchandising Team and centre team to launch new concepts. Be the point of contact of site the remerchandising activity
11. Maintain a commercial awareness of what is happening in the business that informs your decision making on a daily basis
Skills and Experience:
12. Previous experience of being in a regional merchandising or visual merchandising role
13. Proven record of utilising merchandising to drive sales
14. Knowledge of visual merchandising principles
15. Ability to develop merchandising skillset through coaching within our estate
16. Able to build and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues in different areas of the business as you will be working with a multi-functional team
17. Ability to adapt your communication style to work with colleagues of varying levels of merchandising abilities
18. Able to manage multiple projects at one time
19. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
20. Able to manage diary and changing priorities
