Responsibilities

* Early Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment on the 25-bedded Geriatric Assessment Unit, working as part of a highly functioning multidisciplinary team.
* Additional area(s) of special interest. Options include Community Geriatrics, Hospital at Home, Ortho-geriatrics, Surgical & Medical Liaison, Rehabilitation, Parkinson9s disease.
* Be involved in a strong culture of education, research, quality improvement, and service design within the department.
* Provide non-clinical time in the Job Plan to support delivery against departmental ambitions.


What we offer and opportunities

We have established links with the University of Aberdeen and an active Research Team led by the Clinical Chair in Medicine of Old Age. There are strong links with the University and opportunities to contribute to education and research. We are developing new areas of working and can accommodate candidates with special interests. We have an established Hospital at Home service, which has been Consultant-led since March 2021, with plans to develop Hospital at Home throughout Aberdeenshire.

This Consultant role has the potential to be tailored to individual skills and interests while maintaining key responsibilities described above.


Qualifications and requirements

* Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required. The licence must be in place prior to starting in post.
* For those trained in the UK: evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
* CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post once CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration is awarded. Those with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC should have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
* Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made. While in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR or Portfolio Pathway Specialist Registration can be made to the GMC.
* UK-based candidates should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
