OT Assistant to the Occupational Therapists in Acute Mental Health Service and PICU Service at Cygnet Hospital Dunes - Bury
We are seeking ideal candidates for an OT Assistant role. Candidates should have some experience in mental health, demonstrate an understanding of Occupational Therapy processes and interventions, and be able to take a proactive, "hands-on" approach. Excellent communication and time management skills are essential. These services are fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding.
This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills, and understanding of Occupational Therapy within male Acute and PICU mental health services, many of which involve patients detained under the Mental Health Act 1983, amended 2007.
Each ward in The Dunes Hospital has dedicated Occupational Therapy resources, including an OT kitchen, activity room, gym, and sensory room.
You will provide direct clinical interventions under the supervision of an experienced qualified Occupational Therapist. Responsibilities include assessing, implementing, and developing OT treatment plans tailored to patient needs to support recovery, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. You will manage a clinical caseload across two wards supporting patients with complex mental health challenges and behaviors that challenge. In-house and external training will be provided to support your professional development.

Led by our occupational therapy directors, we support over 150 Occupational Therapists. Our team collaborates across services, with opportunities to join specialist interest groups and contribute to service development.
Each service line has a clinical lead occupational therapist to guide evidence-based practice and develop occupational therapy pathways.
