We are currently recruiting for a Second Chef/Junior Chef to join the kitchen team at a well-regarded care home. As Second Chef, you'll play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef and overseeing the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring that high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety are maintained at all times. The care home caters for 30 residents per day plus staff and occasional events.

Key Responsibilities:
*Support with planning, preparing, and serving meals to a high standard
*Assist in supervising and allocating duties to kitchen staff
*Ensure compliance with Food Hygiene Standards and CQC/Food Standards Agency regulations
*Contribute to menu planning, taking into account residents' dietary needs
*Monitor kitchen cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and stock control
*Support training and mentoring of kitchen team members
*Help manage kitchen staff rotas and provide cover where needed
The ideal Second/Junior chef will have/be:
*Experience working in a similar role within a care, hospitality, or healthcare environment would be preferred but is not essential
*Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements
*Confident in leading a small team and managing kitchen operations
*A positive, reliable team player with excellent communication skills
