We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive GIS Technical Specialist to join our dynamic technical operations team, which strives to provide a sector leading technical support for Faculty of Humanities. With a commitment to customer service excellence and a passion for creating, the GIS Technical Specialist will provide an agile technical support service to staff and students to support teaching, research and professional services. This is an exciting opportunity to join us in Manchester and contribute to the provision of a sector leading technical service.
As part of this responsibility, the post-holder will ensure that academics receive the support needed to update teaching materials to reflect any new changes to software at the start of each academic year. The post-holder will also provide ad-hoc GIS support to students in support of their learning, and support to academics in GIS-related research.
The successful post holder will be required, on a daily basis, to engage with and support students in a range of routine and complex GIS needs and enquiries. In doing so, the successful post holder will need to apply excellent communication and customer service skills.
The post-holder will be largely based in the Faculty of Humanities, increasing the technical support provision by working closely with the in-post GIS Technical Specialist, Technical Operations team, academics, students and the IT Services department.
