The Post
As part of NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a crucial role in Scotland's health and on an international level, leading in product development, biomedical research, and donor services. We strive to uphold high standards of patient care while remaining globally competitive.
The Candidate
We invite applications from qualified HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientists to join the Components Department in the Manufacturing Laboratory at the Jack Copland Centre. Experience in transfusion/pathology laboratories or component production is advantageous but not essential. This role offers an exciting opportunity for motivated healthcare professionals.
For non-HCPC applicants, please provide additional details about your qualifications or education, as incomplete information may hinder your application. Ensure your degree is accredited with IBMS for HCPC registration, including:
* Name of University
* Name of Course
* Year of Graduation
The department manufactures specialized blood components, supplying hospitals across Scotland. The successful candidate will undergo a Disclosure Scotland check, and those who have lived or worked overseas for over 12 months in the last five years must provide an overseas criminal record check.
Applicants must hold current HCPC registration at the time of application.
Location and Working Pattern
Location: The Jack Copland Centre, 52 Research Avenue North, Heriot-Watt Research Park, Edinburgh.
Work Pattern: Monday to Sunday, 37 hours per week, including shift work covering 24/7/365.
Residency Requirement: Must reside within the UK during employment.
