2 months contract with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• Bracknell Forest Borough Council is seeking a qualified Lawyer to join its legal service on a temporary basis.
• The postholder will provide professional legal advice and support primarily in the areas of contract and procurement law, supporting the Council’s services to deliver compliant and effective outcomes.
• This is a predominantly remote working role, with an initial requirement to attend the Bracknell office to collect IT equipment.
• The role is offered on a part-time basis (22 hours per week) with working days negotiable.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Provide legal advice and support on contract and procurement matters.
• Draft, review and advise on a range of contracts, agreements and procurement documentation.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with relevant legislation, regulations and council policies.
• Support council departments with legal risk management and governance requirements.
• Advise officers on contract variations, extensions and dispute issues.
• Assist with interpretation and application of public sector procurement rules.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders to support service delivery and decision-making.
• Maintain accurate legal records and documentation in line with council procedures.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet service deadlines and priorities.
Skills/Experience:
• Proven experience in contract law within a public sector or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of procurement law and public sector procurement processes.
• Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts.
• Ability to provide clear, practical and commercially aware legal advice.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage workloads independently and meet deadlines.
Additional Information:
• Part-time – 22 Hr/week (days negotiable).

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (essential).
