SEMH Teacher – Alternative Provision Location: Hull Salary: M1 - UPS3 Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Start Date: ASAP GSL Education is seeking a passionate and experienced SEMH Teacher to join a specialist Alternative Provision setting. This is an exciting opportunity to support students who face significant social, emotional, and mental health challenges and may have struggled to engage in mainstream education. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching in a structured, supportive environment. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEMH challenges. Differentiate learning to support a wide range of abilities and needs. Monitor student progress and adapt approaches to improve engagement and achievement. Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and resilience using restorative and trauma-informed strategies. Provide pastoral support and build positive relationships to encourage motivation and participation. Maintain accurate records, complete reports, and follow safeguarding procedures. Collaborate with colleagues, leadership, families, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students. Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE. Experience teaching students with SEMH needs, ideally within Alternative Provision or Special School settings. Knowledge of SEMH, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and associated needs. Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills. Ability to motivate and engage learners with complex needs. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
