SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Welcoming Primary School – Islington

An inclusive and supportive primary school in the heart of Islington is seeking a SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support for a Key Stage 1 pupil with special educational needs. This is an exciting opportunity to join a school that is passionate about fostering an environment where all students, regardless of their learning challenges, can feel supported, valued, and capable of achieving their best.

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring that the pupil is fully engaged with their learning, helping them overcome any barriers they may face. You’ll work closely with class teachers and the SEN team to create an environment that promotes growth, independence, and self-confidence.

Role Highlights:
• Full-time, long-term position within a welcoming, inclusive primary school
• Provide 1:1 support for a Key Stage 1 pupil with SEN, enabling them to access the curriculum and fully engage in class activities
• Adapt learning activities to suit the individual needs of the pupil, using creative and effective methods
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SEN coordinator to implement personalized learning strategies
• Create a nurturing and positive classroom environment, fostering a sense of security and encouragement for the pupil
• Support the pupil with emotional and behavioral needs, helping them to develop social skills and confidence
• Ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your skills in SEN support and inclusive education

Experience & Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with SEN children is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
• Understanding of different learning styles and the ability to adapt support accordingly
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children, staff, and parents
• A patient and empathetic approach, with a genuine passion for helping children succeed
• Enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants

Why Join Us?
Our school is committed to creating a positive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued, respected, and motivated to learn. You’ll be joining a team of dedicated professionals who work collaboratively to ensure that every pupil’s needs are met. The school is situated in a vibrant part of Islington, with excellent transport links, making it easily accessible from various parts of London.

We believe in nurturing our staff just as much as we nurture our pupils, and we are dedicated to offering training and development opportunities to help you grow in your role. Whether you are an experienced teaching assistant or new to the profession, we will provide you with the support and guidance you need to thrive.

How to Apply:
If you are a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners, we would love to hear from you. To apply, please submit your CV.
