Hays is working exclusively with a highly respected, international insurance organisation to recruit a Senior Marine Hull Underwriter to join their London-based team. Your new role
As a Senior Marine Hull Underwriter, you will be responsible for managing and developing a profitable portfolio of marine business. In this role, you will underwriteplex Marine Hull risks and negotiate terms with brokers across international markets. You will also take ownership of major and technically challenging claims, working closely with surveyors, adjusters and legal specialists to ensure they are handled efficiently and appropriately.In addition, you will contribute to the strategic growth of the portfolio by maintaining and enhancing long-term relationships with brokers, shipowners and other key partners. You will ensure that all underwriting and claims activityplies fully with FCA regulations, Lloyd’s requirements and internalernance frameworks.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this position, you will bring substantial experience within Marine Hull insurance, whether from an underwriting, broking orplex claims background. You will have a strong technical understanding of maritime risks, policy wording and market developments, and you will be confident using market systems such as the Electronic Claims File (ECF).You will also demonstrate excellent negotiation,munication and relationship‑building capabilities, enabling you to work effectively with senior stakeholders. Professional qualifications such as ACII, or active progress towards them, will be seen as an advantage.
