SEMH Teaching Assistant Ely, Cambridgeshire Full-Time | Term-Time Only | Immediate Start Available Tempest Education is recruiting on behalf of a specialist all-boys provision in the Ely area for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly specialist setting supporting boys aged 5-16 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school provides a nurturing, relationship-led environment where every pupil is supported to overcome barriers to learning, develop emotional resilience, and achieve success both academically and personally. The Role As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will: Support pupils both in and out of the classroom Build positive and trusting relationships with students who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education Help pupils regulate emotions and develop social skills Support behaviour management strategies and personalised learning plans Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence Support outdoor learning, enrichment activities, and community-based opportunities We're Looking For: Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural, or additional needs Candidates from education, youth work, care, sports coaching, residential care, or mentoring backgrounds Strong communication and relationship-building skills Patience, resilience, and a calm, consistent approach A genuine passion for helping young people achieve positive outcomes The ability to remain positive and proactive in challenging situations Why This Role?
