All Social Workers must be registered with Social Work England. As a Social Worker in the Community Eating Disorder Service, you will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, providing high-quality social care services to adults of all ages experiencing eating disorders or dual diagnosis. The core functions include assessment, care planning, and coordination of care from a social perspective for adults accessing the service. You will deliver recovery-focused care and support to service users and their carers, emphasizing principles of choice, control, independence, and safety.
You will hold a caseload of adults with moderate to severe eating disorders and social care needs, maintaining reflection on your practice development and ensuring professional growth in line with Social Work England standards. Responsibilities include triaging referrals, completing initial assessments, and supporting team tasks. Training will be provided on eating disorders and their impact on service users.
Key responsibilities:
1. Champion social care, understanding legislation and statutory guidance.
2. Lead in adult safeguarding, undertake safeguarding inquiries, and contribute to care plans protecting adults and children from abuse.
3. Conduct comprehensive assessments and reviews, especially for high-risk individuals or those with complex social, legal, or environmental issues, ensuring compliance with The Care Act 2014.
4. Provide direct support and advice to service users and carers, signposting those not meeting social care eligibility.
5. Ensure appropriate health and social care services are commissioned, including direct payments and charging processes.
6. Promote choice and focus on community living with suitable support and universal service access.
7. Regularly assess risks and ensure the safety of vulnerable individuals.
8. Undertake carer assessments, develop contingency plans, and provide support.
9. Develop and facilitate recovery-focused community services through effective partnership working.
10. Involve service users and carers in service improvement feedback.
11. Maintain accurate records of all work undertaken.
12. Engage in post-qualifying training and ensure ongoing registration with Social Work England.
13. Provide supervision to junior staff and support the development of newly qualified social workers, including opportunities to train as an ASYE assessor.
14. Perform other delegated social care duties as assigned by the Trust, adhering to policies and undertaking additional training as needed.
Qualifications and experience required:
* An appropriate professional social work qualification
* Degree-level education
* Registration with Social Work England
* Training in outcomes-focused assessments and personalization
* Post-qualifying safeguarding training
