Export Customs Clearance Clerk Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Export Customs Clearance Clerk to manage the full export customs process and support the smooth flow of international shipments. The successful candidate will ensure full compliance with HMRC and international regulations while working closely with carriers, freight forwarders, and internal teams. Shift time: Monday to Friday 12pm to 5pm or Tuesday to Saturday 6am to 11am Pay £13.50 per hour Key Responsibilities Prepare and submit accurate export customs declarations in line with HMRC requirements. Liaise with freight forwarders, carriers, and internal teams to ensure timely customs clearance. Verify all shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, export licences, and certificates of origin. Monitor, track, and update shipment status to ensure deadlines are met. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HMRC export regulations, tariffs, and customs procedures. Resolve customs-related queries and provide guidance to colleagues and clients. Ensure compliance with Incoterms and international trade regulations. Maintain accurate, audit-ready records and documentation. Candidate Requirements Proven experience in export customs clearance and international logistics. Strong working knowledge of UK export procedures and HMRC systems (e.g., CDS, CHIEF). Familiarity with Incoterms 2020 and key international trade documents. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Strong communication skills for liaising with internal teams, clients, and external authorities. Proficient in MS Office; experience with customs software is an advantage.
