Community Development Worker (Maternity Cover)
Eastbourne | Part Time – 21 hours per week | £20,098.70 pro rata (£35,412 FTE)
This is a fixed‑term maternity cover position, based in Eastbourne, with hybrid working (a mix of home and community‑based work) and some travel across East Sussex.

Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong understanding of the voluntary and community sector, including relevant policies and frameworks
* Proven experience managing projects from concept through to delivery
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Confident user of Microsoft Office Suite and digital tools
* A full UK driving licence and access to transport required

* Passionate about community development and creating positive social impact
* A natural connector who can build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
* Highly organised and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
* An excellent communicator, confident in both written and verbal communication
* Collaborative and self‑motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
Role Description
* Develop and deliver community networks, both in‑person and online
* Provide support and training on topics such as governance, funding, evaluation, and volunteering
* Build and maintain strong relationships with local organisations and statutory partners
* Identify community needs and facilitate engagement opportunities
* Manage and distribute around £10,000 annually in community funding
* Support programmes such as Beachy Head Ambassadors, Homes for Ukraine, Wealden Food Partnership, and Lewes District Cost of Living initiatives
* Contribute to strategic planning, consultations, and reporting
* Represent the organisation at local meetings and events
