Overview
As a result of rapid growth, we need a Mid-Level Data Engineer to join our Data and Engineering team.
Founded in 2016 as an Amazon agency, Optimizon is one of the UK’s most exciting and fast-growing marketplace agencies, dedicated to building and protecting brands on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Wayfair, Onbuy, Mano Mano, DIY.com, and many more worldwide.
Our teams are led by account managers and supported by Creative, Advertising, Data Analysis, and Technical teams, operating from London and Swindon with a hybrid work policy.
Key Role Responsibilities:
* Implement data pipelines and systems to connect and process data for analytics and BI systems.
* Document systems and source-to-target mappings.
* Re-engineer manual data flows to enable scaling and repeatability.
* Follow and improve best practice guidelines.
* Write clean, secure, and well-tested code.
* Operate and monitor services and pipelines, identifying issues in production.
* Assess and prioritize feature requests.
* Recognize opportunities to reuse existing data flows.
* Collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
* Implement data quality checks and validation processes to identify and resolve anomalies.
* Support the development of reusable business intelligence reports.
Requirements and Skills:
* Proficiency in Python development.
* Strong software engineering background.
* Good problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
* Ability to work independently and in a team.
* Understanding of industry-recognized data modeling patterns and standards.
* Knowledge of data security, privacy principles, and compliance requirements.
* SQL proficiency and experience with relational databases.
* API implementation and RESTful integration experience.
* Knowledge of validation libraries like Marshmallow or Pydantic.
* Experience with Pandas or similar libraries.
* Experience working with Airflow.
* Linux operating system knowledge.
* Proficiency in modern development practices and infrastructure deployment (DevOps), including Git, Terraform, Docker, CI/CD (CircleCI).
* Experience with GCP services (Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, GCS, Secret Manager, etc.).
* Understanding of code versioning tools such as GIT/GitHub.
