Job summary
As the organisations Clinical Officer for Paramedicine and AHPs support the National Clinical Lead (Paramedicine & AHPs) and act alongside the National Clinical Team you will provide strategic Clinical Leadership, Management and Advice to the organisation on all clinical matters to ensure that it delivers clinical services that are compliant, safe and of a high quality.
Key duties and responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership on a national level to develop and support the implementation of National Clinical Strategies.
* Develop methods to recruit, retain and develop the work of paramedics, associate ambulance practitioners and AHPs, and students, within St John Ambulance Cymru. This includes integrating them into frontline practice.
* Support the Deputy Chief Clinical Officer, Governance, to ensure that expert paramedic input is given to the strategic management and implementation of issues relating to regulatory standards, including Infection Prevention Control, Morbidity and Mortality Reviews, MHRA Medical and Field Safety Alerts.
* On behalf of the Deputy Chief Clinical Officer, Governance, in support of the National Clinical Lead, medicine, support the management of Controlled Drug provision to volunteers and staff and support the discharge of their clinical duties in relation to medicines.
* Participate in the function as On-Call Senior Clinical Advisor and execute the associated requirements of this role.
* As part of the wider clinical team provide expert paramedic advice to inform changes to St John Ambulance Cymru training, operational and clinical practice.
* Attend Clinical Forums, Clinical Risk meetings and other Clinical groups as directed by the Clinical Director.
* Ensure that teams collaborate internally both locally and nationally to share best practice and develop shared charitable activities and projects, including facilitating quality improvement initiatives, input to reviews and taking part in consultations to support the St John Ambulance Cymru National Clinical agenda.
* Forge links with health partners, other professional groups and external stakeholders.
* Line manage as per management structure to ensure that Health Care Professionals are professionally led and meet requirements of their professional bodies as well as St John Ambulance Cymru.
* Undertake investigations and produce reports as required in relation to operational, conduct or clinical activities.
* Represent St John Ambulance Cymru, from time to time as requested, on relevant Committees, Task & Finish or Working Groups.
* Proactively manage and conduct Annual Development Reviews on direct reports.
* Comply with St John Ambulance Cymru health and safety policies, procedures and regulations, and where appropriate statutory requirements. Have due regard for the health, safety, welfare and wellbeing of St John Ambulance Cymru people and those members of the public with whom they come into contact.

* Minimum of 3 years clinical experience.
