Job Description Are you passionate about equality, community engagement, and driving real change? Join us to manage and deliver multi-agency engagement and communication activity. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engagement and Communications Manager to support the strategy for the Tackling Racial Disproportionality Steering Committee workstreams and the Independent Scrutiny Board. Addressing disproportionality and improving outcomes for underrepresented communities you will work closely with internal teams, partner organisations, and community groups. You'll play a vital role in supporting the Constabulary and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner shaping communications that are clear, inclusive, and impactful. You'll help ensure our initiatives are not only heard but truly understood by the people we serve. Key Responsibilities To build on an engagement and communications plan to support the long-term objectives of the Tackling Disproportionality Steering Committee. To co-ordinate and lead a multi-agency communications group that sits under the strategic Tackling Disproportionality Steering Committee. To work in partnership with the multi-agency engagement and communications group, delivering and supporting activities as part of a shared communications plan, across a number of channels, including traditional media and social media. To produce creative and engaging ideas and content to tell the story and build the narrative of the work of the Avon and Somerset Tackling Disproportionality Steering Committee. To lead the multi-agency engagement and communications group in identifying opportunities to raise the profile and awareness of the work of the Avon and Somerset Tackling Disproportionality Steering Committee and its objectives among stakeholders and the public. To provide professional advice to the Co-Chairs of the Tackling Racial Disproportionality Steering Committee and representatives of all member organisations on matters regarding internal and external communications in relation to Tackling Racial Disproportionality. Responsible for ensuring that information provided to the press and the public complies with legislation and corporate policies and practices. What We’re Looking For Someone that holds a degree in a communications related discipline or has equivalent professional experience Recent and proven experience in the understanding and strategic use of communications in a work/business environment and experience of partnership working and demonstrable experience. Experience of writing corporate briefings and reports. Strong attention to detail, organisation skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines. Why Join Us? Due to the nature of the role you must be willing to work unsocial hours from time to time.
