Development / Project Manager – Building Safety & Remediation
Location: Essex
Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 + package
A leading specialist team within a major UK residential developer is seeking a Development / Project Manager to support the delivery of complex building safety and remediation works across a large residential portfolio.
This position sits within a specialist division responsible for legacy remediation works across approximately 300 residential developments throughout the UK, predominantly in London with additional projects in Manchester and Bristol.
In the wake of evolving building safety legislation the team plays a critical role in upgrading legacy developments to meet current fire safety standards.
This role is more closely aligned to a Project Manager or Employer’s Agent position rather than a traditional Development Manager role. It requires someone with the ability to manage contracts, coordinating multiple stakeholders, and navigating legal and compliance processes associated with remediation projects.
The role
You will play a key role in taking projects from pre-contract stage through to agreement, ensuring works are properly structured, approved and ready for delivery. The developments themselves are not owned by the organisation, however there is a legal obligation to undertake the remediation works, meaning strong stakeholder management and clear communication are essential.
Key responsibilities include:
• Overseeing the process of progressing projects into contract
• Supporting the drafting and creation of new contracts
• Liaising with responsible entities to obtain approvals for remedial works
• Working closely with internal teams including technical, commercial and build
• Coordinating projects and monitoring progress across multiple developments
• Managing significant contractual and legal elements throughout the process
• Engaging with clients, housing associations and local authorities
• Interfacing regularly with external stakeholders and delivery partners
What we are looking for
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage clients and public sector stakeholders
• A proactive and independent approach to problem solving
• Experience working with housing associations, local authorities or main contractors
• A good understanding of contracts and legal processes (highly desirable)
• Employer’s Agent background would be advantageous
• Ability to navigate complex approval, governance and compliance procedures
• A collaborative communicator able to build relationships across multiple teams
Additional information
This is an excellent opportunity for a capable Project Manager with a commercial or legal mindset to play a key role in delivering important building safety improvements across the UK residential sector.
