In-House Deputy Editor – The Lancet eClinicalMedicine
We are seeking an In-House Deputy Editor to oversee the creation and publication of original content, manage submissions, and coordinate high-quality peer reviews. The role involves building global relationships with researchers, institutions, and colleagues in the medical and research community.
Overview
As part of EClinicalMedicine, you will oversee submissions and quality peer reviews to ensure publication of high-quality content, and you will contribute to editorial strategy and content development.
Responsibilities
* Assist the editorial team with decisions on which new submissions should be considered for publication and help develop editorial strategy.
* Deputise for the Editor-in-Chief in their absence.
* Arrange peer review and commission content.
* Scan medical literature and news to stay up-to-date with developments.
* Attend conferences and academic meetings, as well as laboratory and institutional visits.
* Write editorials, commission reviews, and publish correspondence to build the journal’s profile among relevant communities.
* Suggest and help develop new initiatives for future developments and enhancements to the journal.
Requirements
* Have a Medical degree with clinical experience or a PhD in a related field with postdoctoral experience.
* Substantial editorial experience at Senior Editor level, with a strong understanding of the editorial process, journal production, and managing an editorial team.
* Demonstrate extensive knowledge of biological and medical sciences.
* Excellent command of English with the ability to write in an engaging and clear manner.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills with medical professionals, the media, and colleagues.
* Proficiency with IT systems including MS Office.
* Ability to collaborate with teams to deliver successful projects on time.
* Natural ability to engage, influence, and build relationships with stakeholders, teams, and the community.
* Willingness and ability to travel internationally for meetings and conferences.
