Position Summary
The Senior Finance Assistant supports the finance team in delivering accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations. This role handles advanced accounting tasks, leads routine financial processes, assists with reporting and audits, and provides guidance to junior staff. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations
* Process and review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with high accuracy.
* Perform bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and resolve discrepancies.
* Prepare journal entries and assist with month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
* Monitor and manage petty cash, expense claims, and corporate credit card reconciliations.
* Daily systems housekeeping
* Support payroll processing & review payroll related entries when required
Reporting & Analysis
* Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including management accounts and cost centre profit and loss.
* Support budget preparation and monitoring; track variances and flag issues to management.
* Maintain financial databases, ledgers, and records in compliance with internal controls.
Compliance & Controls
* Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
* Prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
* Support improvements in financial processes and internal controls.
Team Support & Leadership
* Respond to Finance queries from internal teams / suppliers & external parties
* Coordinate workflow within the team and support cross‑departmental communication.
* Assist management in implementing new finance systems or process changes.
Required Skills / Qualifications
* QBE or P/Q Accountant
* 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
* Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Xero) is preferred.
* Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting principles and financial practices.
* Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).
* High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
* Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently & handle confidential information with discretion
