Job Overview:
As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the hotel, ensuring smooth operations across all departments including front of house, housekeeping, food & beverage, and maintenance. You'll play a key role in maintaining high standards of guest service, motivating a small but dedicated team, and supporting the hotel's long-term success.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a close-knit team environment, is passionate about hospitality, and has a flair for organisation and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee daily hotel operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service across all departments.
· Lead and support team members in front desk, housekeeping, kitchen, and restaurant/bar operations.
· Recruit, train, and supervise staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
· Maintain and monitor high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest service.
· Manage rotas, holiday scheduling, and shift cover.
· Monitor guest feedback and respond to reviews, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
· Liaise with local suppliers and manage inventory to ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing.
· Ensure compliance with health and safety, food hygiene, fire regulations, and licensing laws.
· Support the development and delivery of events, weddings, and seasonal promotions.
· Assist with budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
· Take responsibility for the hotel in the absence of the General Manager or owners.
Person Specification:
Essential:
· Proven experience in hotel or hospitality operations (supervisory or management level).
· Strong people management and leadership skills.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational abilities.
· A guest-focused mindset with a "can-do" attitude.
· Confidence with IT systems (PMS, MS Office, EPOS, etc.).
· Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as needed.
Desirable:
· Knowledge of the Lake District area and local tourism.
· First aid and/or health & safety training.
