We’re a product‑driven company founded by engineers. We’re looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer to join a team built on trust, teamwork, and tight feedback loops.
As a Principal DevOps Engineer you’ll work collaboratively using a pragmatic, modern tech stack (Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, .NET) to help Gearset run a scalable, secure and reliable service, and enable our solution to scale with rapid company growth.
Responsibilities
* Build and support our multi‑tenant infrastructure running across multiple regions powered by AWS and Kubernetes.
* Maintain critical production infrastructure used by thousands of teams and preserve our reputation for minimal downtime even during complex changes.
* Build and maintain automation that allows the engineering team to release updates multiple times per day.
* Continuously improve infrastructure security and our ability to detect and respond to issues.
* Collaborate with and support teams across the organisation—including developers, designers, data engineers, marketers, and salespeople—to make a real difference to our customers.
Qualifications
* 5+ years’ experience as a DevOps engineer.
* In‑depth practical experience with AWS (VPC networking & security, IAM, EC2, RDS, S3, EKS).
* Experience running production‑level services in Kubernetes and managing clusters.
* Practical experience automating infrastructure with Terraform.
* Experience configuring and running a CI/CD pipeline.
* Previous experience supporting a hosted, multi‑tenant SaaS product at scale.
* Comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback.
* Pragmatic approach, prioritise iteration and deliver value over process.
Desired skills
* Experience with .NET/C#.
* Experience working in an agile development team focused on early value delivery.
* Experience building observability and alerting into systems.
Salary and benefits
* Salary £78 K – £100 K (depending on experience).
* Full‑time opportunity, Monday‑Friday with flexible home working (2‑3 days a week in the office).
