Job overview
You will be responsible for accurately supporting and checking of mechanical medical devices, e.g., patient trolleys, medical gas appliances and other low to mid-level equipment, with a view for development. There will also be some need to utilise electronics knowledge. Duties include generic solutions of medical device management in accordance with the Medical Device Management Standard 2015.
Full training and support will be given.
The successful applicant will be someone who is fully committed and able to deliver both quality and the needs of the service.
The department’s opening hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:30, excluding weekends and bank holidays.
This role does involve indirect working with patients.

The EBME Department is looking for an experienced EBME Technician to join their team in the day-to-day maintenance of Medical Equipment at the Hospital and centres where Croydon University Hospital provides care.
The post holder will be expected to deliver a high standard of work relating to EBME across its multiple sites.
Our main aim is to provide an efficient and safe service to patients and stakeholders and offer excellent customer care to patients, their families and colleagues who use all our services at our multiple sites across Croydon.

Person specification
Education and Qualification
* BEng in electronics or BTEC HND in Electronic Engineering or equivalent + relevant medical engineering courses or equivalent. (3)
* To attain recognition under a professional body such as IPEM for Engineering Technician (EngTech) (3)
Knowledge
* Able to fault find on medical devices and able to apply techniques under demanding situations. Ensure the best course of corrective action is taken within clinical or non-clinical environments. (3)
* General fault finding techniques applicable to technical devices with proven ability in these processes. (3)
Experience
* Knowledge of medical device operation and management. (3)
* Understanding of patient and staff risks arising from equipment failure and knowledge of interactions between equipment, patient and operator. (3)
