Role
As a Volunteering Project Officer, you’ll be at the heart of everything York Cares does. This is a varied, hands-on role and no two days will be the same – you might be co-ordinating a Community Challenge at a green space in the city, supporting a group of employee-volunteers to deliver an activity in a local school, or promoting York Cares at a city-wide event.
In this role, you will:
1. Co-ordinate volunteering programmes
2. Build relationships with local employers and community groups
3. Lead volunteer recruitment campaigns
4. Create engaging content for web and social media
5. Plan and deliver high-profile events
Above all, you’ll be part of the team ensuring York Cares continues to deliver life-changing volunteering experiences for individuals and lasting benefits for the city we call home.
This is a fixed term contract for one year.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications Needed
We’re looking for someone who has a genuine passion for people and communities. To succeed, you will bring:
6. A Level 3 qualification (A-level or equivalent) or equivalent professional experience.
7. Experience of working with employers, ideally in the private sector.
8. Genuine enthusiasm for volunteering and its impact
9. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
10. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
11. Confidence using initiative to solve problems
12. Flexibility to work independently and as part of a team
13. Experience using social media professionally

If you want to help connect people, strengthen communities and shape positive change in York, we’d love to hear from you.
