We are looking for a Head of Underwriting Product & Strategy Delivery, based in London.
The Impact You Will Have
In this role, you will lead the oversight and delivery of Allianz Commercial Underwriting Transformation initiatives, focusing on technology, process, data, and people projects, covering Underwriting and impacting Large Corp/Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty as well as Mid Corp. You will collaborate with Product Owners, Global Pricing, LoB Heads, IT, Claims, Operations, and Legal & Compliance to drive integration and alignment. You will manage a team to ensure end-to-end delivery of transformation initiatives, applying Agile/Waterfall/Hybrid methodologies and maintaining focus on Change Management, user adoption and benefit realization. You will report to the Global Head of Underwriting Transformation and Product Management.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
* Drive project and initiative delivery and implementation of strategic objectives for Global Underwriting through IT Products and various other process/data initiatives impacting Underwriting.
* Steer global Product strategy and decision-making, driving Underwriting transformation and engaging with all relevant parties.
* Act as Business Owner for one IT product and coordinate with co‑business owners (Underwriting Global Corporate & Specialty, Multinational, Pricing, Nat Cat, ARC) to ensure alignment with strategy and business value creation.
* Enable business value by prioritizing and proposing EPICs with lean business case.
* Manage migration and decommissioning of legacy systems and processes in alignment with overall strategy.
* Facilitate cross‑functional and cross‑geographical collaboration, managing communication between teams for product management implementation.
* Develop and enhance change management approach to ensure smooth deployment and lead communications strategy for business readiness, working closely with Allianz Commercial’s communications team.
* Lead and manage the delivery resource team (permanent and contract), also leveraging resources for cross‑collaboration and sustainable outputs.
* Oversee various project cost center budgets within plans, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
What You'll Bring to the Role
* Over 10+ years of proven underwriting experience with a strong track record of success. Profound knowledge of specialty insurance.
* Over 10+ years expertise in leading delivery and change initiatives within complex organizations, across diverse business scenarios and geographies, including mature and growth markets.
* Experience in leading international teams, with a proven ability to manage and develop remote teams across multiple locations.
* Demonstrated ability to interact effectively across divisions and departments, with experience in areas beyond underwriting such as actuarial, finance, reinsurance, claims, IT, operations, and GBO.
* Significant experience in managing complex insurance projects and programs IT and process‑related, using Agile, Waterfall and other hybrid approaches.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and lead international virtual and non‑virtual senior teams, including budget management.
* Result‑oriented executive with strategic thinking, organisational skills, and a willingness to travel.
* Robust understanding of principles and practices in relevant areas such as claims, underwriting, reinsurance, accounting and process reengineering.
* Advanced quantitative and analytical skills combined with strong business acumen, market understanding and emotional intelligence.
* Expertise in integrating AI into various business functions, enhancing efficiency, and fostering a culture of data‑driven innovation is crucial.
* Ability to develop, implement and communicate strategies to address key business trends and changes and monitor adoption and business outcomes/benefits.
* Ability to influence strategic stakeholders across locations and functions, and transition individuals, teams and organisations from current to desired states, utilising experience in various change management methodologies.
