Position: Process and Plant Engineer

About the Role
Pharmaron is currently seeking a Process and Plant Engineer to join our Cardiff site. In this role you will be responsible facilitate the daily operation, maintenance, and ongoing development of 14C process plant operations, specifically the isotope enrichment facility.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate in Process or Chemical Engineering to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic pharmaceutical environment. The role focuses on process design, and we’re looking for a practically minded individual with strong problem-solving skills—someone who’s comfortable collaborating across teams and communicating with people at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide technical oversight and strategic input for 14C process plant operations and ongoing process development.
2. Ensure documented operating procedures and safety protocols are in place, followed and complied with to minimise the potential for process failure and optimise operating efficiency.
3. Carry out operational tasks and maintenance activities on the process plant, achieving established production yields and specifications with a high level of reliability.
4. Carry out purification and analytical testing of 14C materials produced in the isotope enrichment facility.
5. Contribute to redesign and scale up of process plant as required.
6. Liaise closely with the 14C radiochemistry team and other stakeholders, to plan operational and maintenance schedules, create supporting documentation and deliver process analysis.
7. Maintain high levels of safety, housekeeping and quality in 14C process plant operations.
Candidate Profile
8. BSc or MSc in Process or Chemical Engineering
9. Experience of process plant operations with experience within a chemical or process manufacturing facility highly advantageous
10. Proven ability to problem-solve
11. Strong interpersonal skills and able to build collaborative relationships
12. Good organisational and time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines.
13. Willing to get involved with new ideas and initiatives.
14. Conscientious with high level of attention to detail
