The role
As a Head of Environmental Protection & Occupational Health you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This role will assist the SHEP Director in setting both Environmental Protection and Health governance across the Marine Sector.
The Marine Sector are working to introduce a standardised approach to Health, Safety and Environmental Protection through this new role. The Sector operates internationally at various waterfront locations and are driving toward Zero harm to people and the environment.
The role of Head of Environmental Protection & Occupational Health sits within the Safety, Health, Environment (SHEP) team within the Marine Sector at Babcock International Group.
Day-to-day, you'll be designing and providing assurance for Environmental and Health Governance, and managing the Occupational Health Contract which is operated by a third-party provider. You will be also ensuring provision of adequate OH information for any claims, and providing oversight of the Occupational Health Contract Provision, including attending contract management meetings.
1. Pro-actively interacting with environmental regulators, including but not limited to SEPA, EA and Local Authorities
2. Working with Babcock Group wide Environmental and Health leads to standardise Babcock governance
3. Developing and owning adequate risk/aspect registers at a Marine Sector level for Health and Environment
4. Identifying key Environmental and Health trends, with clear actions to mitigate risk or remove hazard, which will include developing any potential business cases.
5. Ensuring emergency arrangements are adequate and in place for environmental issues across the sector
This role is full time 36 hours per week and based in Rosyth.
Essential experience of the Head of Environmental Protection & Occupational Health
6. Experience of senior environmental protection management within heavy manufacturing, waste management or defence, ideally with waterfront locations
7. A full understanding of ISO14001 and ideally working knowledge of ISO45001
8. An ability to translate international and UK Law into practical standards for delivery across the globe.
9. Experience of managing commercial arrangements with suppliers
10. Exposure to Occupational Health Management
Qualifications for the Essential experience of the Head of Environmental Protection & Occupational Health
11. Chartered Environmentalist
12. Full Member of IEMA or environmental body
13. Level 6 Qualification in Environmental/Sustainability
14. Level 3 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
15. Level 6 Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC)) security clearance for this role.
