UPL is a wholly owned subsidiary of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, providing pharmacy services for hospital staff, outpatients, and visitors. The pharmacy is located in the main foyer of the hospital and offers a wide range of over‑the‑counter medicines and healthcare products.
Working hours
* Monday – Friday: 09:00 – 18:00
* Saturday: 09:00 – 13:00
* Sunday: 10:00 – 16:00
Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
* Work with the whole of UPL to provide the core service of the pharmacy, which is dispensing outpatient prescriptions, maintaining a high standard of service in accordance with legislation and recognised good practice.
* Adhere to the provided Standard Operating Procedures and enforce them if they are not adhered to by any member of staff.
* Undertake day-to-day technical duties, including checking outpatient prescriptions for accuracy, ensuring that relevant standards are followed, and providing advice to patients and health care professionals.
* Help maintain the stock of the company in accordance with legislation and good practice, including rotation of stock and security.
* Ensure that the dispensary is kept clean, tidy, and is running smoothly.
* Undertake CPD and, if appropriate, facilitate the CPD of other staff employed by the pharmacy.
* Supervise the dispensary and shop staff.
Person specification
Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
* Appropriate ACPT qualification.
* Registered as an ACPT with the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain.
* Proven track record of providing excellent customer care in a community or hospital pharmacy environment.
* Evidence of being able to cope with change.
* Experience in a patient‑focused environment.
* Competent in use of IT equipment.
Desirable criteria
* Further relevant post‑registration qualification.
* Both community pharmacy and hospital pharmacy experience.
* Experience of robotic dispensing.
* Awareness of arrangements for homecare medicines.
