We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Sister / Charge Nurse to join our dynamic team within the Emergency Department.
Overview
The role focuses on clinical leadership and management support to ensure agreed standards, objectives and targets are met. Suitable candidates should have substantial experience in Emergency Nursing and be able to act effectively as a team leader.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the clinical leader for the Emergency Department, providing effective management and support to meet patient care standards.
* Communicate with staff to ensure high quality service and timely resolution of unexpected events and situations.
* Support staff, patients and carers during difficult situations, for example breaking bad news or following an unexpected event.
* Identify and assess complex clinical and non-clinical issues, implement resolutions and monitor/audit outcomes.
* Provide training to identified staff groups within defined areas and utilise IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data.
* Maintain the clinical governance embedded in practice, ensuring compliance with national, local and Trust policies and procedures.
* Participate in shift pattern rotation and manage expected and unexpected clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort according to patient dependency and clinical need.
* Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
Qualifications and Experience
* Senior Sister or Charge Nurse level with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in Emergency Nursing.
* Excellent leadership, communication and team management skills.
* Knowledge of national, local and Trust clinical governance policies and procedures.
* Demonstrated ability to train staff and utilize IT systems for patient and workforce data management.
* Ability to manage complex clinical and non-clinical situations and audit outcomes.
