Our client, a market leading manufacturer, seeks to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer for their Manchester facility. You'll be designing and developing a wide range of mechanical products from initial concept through to finished design. The appointed Mechanical Design Engineer will be well qualified (degree preferred, but HNC / HND and experience in industry fine too) and have at least five years' experience of 3D CAD design software. Role & Responsibilities
* Review new product requests and write project/product specifications and create project plans
* Generate product designs and CAD models, including calculations/analysis both by hand and with the assistance of computer software
* Preparation of manufacturing detail drawings, assembly drawings, schematics and BOMs
* Create test specifications and work with other R&D team members to assemble, test and examine prototype products
* Assist the Sales and Operations departments as required to ensure that customer expectations are met
Candidate Profile
* HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering as a minimum. Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
* Experienced with 2D and 3D CAD – AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, SolidEdge or equivalent
* Aware of modern manufacturing techniques and materials
* Experience designing complex mechanical parts (hydraulics, pneumatics, gears etc)
* Good communication skills with customers and suppliers
