Responsibilities
1. Be responsible for the learning and achievement of all pupils in the class(es), ensuring equality of opportunity for all;
2. Be responsible and accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct;
3. Treat pupils with dignity, building relationships rooted in mutual respect, and observing proper boundaries appropriate to a teacher’s professional position;
4. Work proactively and effectively in collaboration and partnership with learners, parents/carers, governors, other staff, and external agencies in the best interests of pupils;
5. Act within the statutory frameworks, which set out your professional duties and responsibilities, and in line with the duties outlined in the current School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document and Teacher Standards;

Teaching
1. Deliver the curriculum relevant to the age and ability group/subject(s) that you teach;
2. Be responsible for the preparation and development of teaching materials, teaching programmes, and pastoral arrangements as appropriate;
3. Be accountable for the attainment, progress, and outcomes of pupils you teach;
4. Be aware of pupils’ capabilities and their prior knowledge, and plan teaching accordingly, demonstrating knowledge of how pupils learn;
5. Understand and support the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs, gifted and talented, EAL, and disabilities, using and evaluating appropriate teaching approaches;
6. Promote high standards of literacy, including the correct use of spoken English;
7. If teaching early reading, demonstrate understanding of appropriate strategies such as systematic synthetic phonics;
8. Use observation, assessment, monitoring, and recording strategies to set challenging objectives and monitor progress;
9. Provide regular feedback and encourage pupils to reflect and respond to feedback;
10. Use data to monitor progress, set targets, and plan lessons;
11. Assign homework and plan activities to consolidate learning;
12. Participate in examinations and assessments as per school policies.
Behaviour and Safety
1. Establish a safe, purposeful environment rooted in mutual respect;
2. Manage classes effectively, inspiring and motivating pupils;
3. Maintain good relationships and exercise authority appropriately;
