The Role and Responsibilities:
The Data Director at CAVU is pivotal to our ambitious expansion plans, encompassing both product and service diversification.
This role will be responsible for developing global data strategies and policies for CAVU that align with our business goals. A key part of the role will be to lead and establish a best-in-class data team capable of supporting the growth of CAVU and our clients.
The role sits as part of the Technology senior leadership team and will play a critical role in devising and executing our Technology strategy, which is geared towards creating a unified platform to support our global operations.
The Data Director will bring technical expertise to evaluate new technologies, enhance data quality, and integrate AI and ML technologies. They will ensure strategic alignment across BI, Engineering, and Data Science teams, fostering innovation and best practices.
Key responsibilities include comprehensive data management, from overseeing collection and storage to establishing data handling policies. They will assure data quality, ensuring accuracy and reliability, and lead data governance, maintaining compliance with regulations.
The Data Director will oversee data reporting and analytics, ensuring data supports decision-making. They will manage team performance, set goals, and provide feedback. Additionally, they will ensure engineering projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
Skills & Experience:
* Significant experience of operating in a Director level role.
* Proficiency in developing and executing data strategies that support the overall business objectives, in collaboration with other organisational leaders.
* Evaluate and recommend new technologies, focusing on the integration of AI and ML, and have familiarity with AWS tools such as Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue & SageMaker for ML.
* Ensuring timely, within-budget, and high-quality delivery of engineering projects, coordinating with project managers and cross-functional teams.
* Experience of hiring & managing teams of Engineers, Business Intelligence and Data Science Engineers.
* Demonstrates people leadership skills for significant populations or technical experts.
* Strong commercial acumen can understand and act on the company vision and strategic goals.
* Keeps abreast of market and industry developments.
* Confident and credible when working with senior execs.
* Shows resilience in the face of setbacks and looks for new ways to meet challenges.
* Has a personal positive impact on colleagues across the wider team & organisation.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to proactively network across functions and discuss technical projects with a non-technical audience.
* Excellent understanding and background in BI, Science and Engineering.
* Delivery focused & a self-starter, having a track record of achieving challenging goals within business-critical timescales while working under pressure.
* Experience in managing and mentoring a data team.
