Job Summary
Milk Education is working in partnership with a specialist secondary alternative provision in Catford, supporting pupils who are unable to access mainstream education due to SEMH and SEN needs.
This is a teaching SENCO role, combining classroom teaching with responsibility for SEN provision and EHCP processes. The provision focuses on re-engagement, attendance, and long-term outcomes, within a structured and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality teaching to secondary-aged pupils with SEMH and additional SEN, adapting curriculum and pedagogy to meet individual need
* Act as SENCO within the provision, overseeing SEN identification, support planning, and statutory processes
* Lead, coordinate, and contribute to EHCP reviews, annual reviews, and SEN documentation in line with local authority requirements
* Liaise professionally with the Local Authority, external agencies, and multi-disciplinary professionals
* Work closely with the Head Teacher to develop and monitor SEN strategy across the provision
* Support staff with inclusive practice, differentiation strategies, and behaviour support approaches
* Monitor and track pupil progress, engagement, and attendance, using data to inform interventions
* Implement and review individual behaviour and support plans
* Promote positive relationships, emotional regulation, and resilience through trauma-informed practice
* Maintain clear records in line with safeguarding and SEN compliance requirements
* Contribute to a consistent, calm, and structured learning environment
* Participate in meetings, reviews, and planning to support whole-school development
Working Pattern
* 4 days per week
* Tuesday is mandatory
* One additional weekday off (your choice)
* 8:00am – 4:00pm
* Start date: ASAP or February half term
Essential Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Experience supporting pupils with SEN
* Confidence teaching secondary-aged pupils
* Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable
* Previous SENCO experience or title
* Experience contributing to or leading EHCP reviews
* Experience in alternative provision, PRU, or SEMH settings
Pay & Contract
* £180–£230 per day (pay to scale, dependent on experience)
* 12 week Temp to Perm period (Subject to interview)
