We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated teacher to support teaching at Wallace Hall Academy. Our commitment to teachers is demonstrated through high-quality professional learning opportunities.

* Raising attainment and achievement - Very Good

We aim to attract and appoint a highly skilled History Teacher. Knowledge of a second Social Subject area would be advantageous.

Wallace Hall is a rural school located in Thornhill, 13 miles north of Dumfries. The school roll includes just under 550 secondary pupils, 185 primary pupils, and 50 in our ELC. We moved into a new building in January 2010, featuring excellent facilities. The school now operates as a 2-18 establishment under one Head Teacher.

Our motto is "Together we grow, learn and achieve". We value input from all stakeholders on our core values. Our vision is to provide a safe, happy environment where learners can enjoy their experience and reach their full academic and vocational potential. We emphasize developing skills such as communication, compassion, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, composure, citizenship, and curiosity.

We maintain strong partnerships with five cluster primaries, and approximately 25% of our students come from outside our catchment area. Our reputation for academic excellence and curriculum development makes us attractive to many parents and pupils.

Our school is vibrant and committed to the development of pupils and staff, fostering a positive learning community. We employ 65 teaching staff and 35 support staff, with strong links to various partner agencies including the Parent Council, CAMPLE LINE, and the Queensberry Estate. Our dedicated support staff contribute significantly to our ethos and culture of achievement. Our school is recognized for excellence.
