Clinical Policy Writer - Wokingham
The Governance and Quality Assurance team provides internal services, focusing on continuous improvement and learning to maintain compliance and offer assurance, guidance, and direction across Optalis Services.

Main duties of the job
Working with the Head of Service and Registered Managers, you will lead the development and publication of clinical policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of care. You will create approximately 35-40 policies covering clinical responsibilities in care homes with nursing.
You will gather information from CQC, NMC, colleagues, and residents to write clear, understandable policies with clinical guidance. Using Croner-i and templates, you will ensure policies are fit for purpose and relevant to Optalis services. Additionally, you will validate the accuracy and relevance of the information, maintain records of revisions, updates, and deletions, and visit sites such as Bluebell House and Hollies Care Home.

Job responsibilities
* Gather information for policy writing from sources such as CQC, NMC, NICE, best practice examples, managers, nurses, care staff, and residents.
* Write clinical policies, procedures, and guidance using Optalis templates.
* Ensure policies are clear and easy to understand for employees.
* Keep records of policy changes, revisions, updates, and deletions.
* Validate the accuracy, completeness, and relevance of collected information.
* Maintain knowledge of legislation underpinning Adult Social Care (e.g., The Care Act 2014, CQC Regulations).
* Comply with Optalis policies and promote equality, treating everyone with fairness, dignity, and respect.
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of policy and procedure writing.
* Ability to produce well-written, evidence-based information.
* Respond effectively to changing demands and priorities.
* Customer-focused approach.
* Good communication and active listening skills.
* IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Word.
Qualifications
* GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
* Working knowledge of CQC and Key Lines of Enquiries.
Additional
* Experience in Quality Improvement (desirable).
* Familiarity with policy writing, project work, and service development (desirable).
