Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist Upper Limb Amputees

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Band 7 Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to work in our Mobility and Specialised Rehabilitation Centre, providing care to paediatric amputees and adult upper limb amputees.
The department is a regional centre for children and adults with congenital, acquired and traumatic upper limb amputation.
You will be working alongside physiotherapists, consultants and prothetists in conjunction with families, GPs and schools.
Main duties of the job
As a clinical specialist Occupational Therapist, you will:
* Lead in providing specialist training to patients for all types of upper limb prostheses, including myo-electric single grip and multi articulating hand prostheses.
* Provide high quality therapy in the rehabilitation of upper limb amputees, including veterans
* Attend the children's clinic supporting an MDT approach to treatment and care
* Co-ordinate the long term management of paediatric patients and develop links and transition services with the children's hospital
* Organise home, school and work visits to support patients' treatment
* Utilise links with regional and national services, gaining peer support with other specialists in the field.
* Act as the child safeguarding lead within MSRC and provide a point of contact for paediatric amputees

Person Specification
Qualifications
* BSc in Occupational Therapy.
* Current HCPC Registration.
* Postgraduate Masters level module in relevant subject to this post or equivalent knowledge and skills accumulated through formal training and experiential learning.
* Master's degree in relevant Speciality.
Experience
* Extensive experience as a qualified therapist.
* Significant experience at Specialist level in relevant specialty.
* Clinical Educator.
* Participation in Clinical Audit & Practice Development.
* Supervision and line management of Therapy staff including appraisal.
* Professional Presentations.
* Member of Special Interest Group.
* Governance.
* Teaching.
Further Training
* Evidence of continuous personal & professional development.
* Current advanced clinical knowledge and skill in specialty.
* Current knowledge of evidence-base for specialty.
* Good basic knowledge of therapy practice for medicine, orthopaedics, neurology
* Clinical Governance.
* Research, Clinical Audit or Practice.
* Leadership.
* NVQ Assessor.
