At Prospero Teaching, we are looking for dedicated and empathetic Tutors to join our growing team in Weymouth (DT4) this term. This role involves supporting a Year 11 student who is currently unable to attend school full-time due to social anxiety and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA).
You’ll be working 1:1 with the learner to help them re-engage with education, build confidence, and prepare for their GCSEs in English and Maths.
About the Role:
1. Position: 1:1 Tutor (English & Maths)
2. Location: Weymouth (DT4)
3. Hours: 10 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
4. Start Date: ASAP
5. Rate: £20-£30 per hour (depending on experience)
6. Contract Type: Part-time, temporary
As a Tutor, you will:
7. Plan and deliver engaging, tailored sessions
8. Support the learner’s academic progress and emotional well-being
9. Monitor and report on progress weekly
10. Be calm, patient, and adaptable
11. Record attendance and engagement
12. Work collaboratively with the school and other professionals
About You:
13. Nurturing and caring nature
14. Strong understanding of the National Curriculum
15. Experience supporting learners with SEN/SEMH needs
16. Confident teaching GCSE English and Maths
17. Organised, dependable, and creative
18. Able to build trust and rapport with young people
Essential Requirements:
19. Minimum 1 year of experience working in UK schools
20. Right to work in the UK
21. Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
22. Up-to-date Safeguarding Training (or willingness to complete)
23. References available on request
Specific to This Role:
You’ll be supporting a Year 11 student working at upper Key Stage 2 level in a calm, nurturing 1:1 environment. The learner is motivated to achieve and has post-16 plans, but needs a tutor who can help close learning gaps and build confidence in preparation for exams.
