We are recruiting for an experienced Business Development Executive to service our existing trade customers and new customers, with our vast range of timber, fencing and ancillary products developing long standing partnerships with them.
The role:
The role will suit an experienced individual that has a positive attitude and excellent customer service and sales skills. The successful candidate will work closely with the Commercial Director and Sales Manager in developing and managing sales opportunities and ensuring that the highest possible levels of customer service are given at all times.

As business development manager, you will effectively be the face of the business, proactively identifying and securing new business opportunities, networking with existing and prospective clients in order to develop a deep understanding of their project pipelines and material needs.
As well as managing all business development activities, you will strive to stay ahead of the curve with respect to market trends and competitor activity. This information will be used, alongside customer spend patterns, to drive sales across all our product ranges.
You'll spend time out in the field, as required, visiting customers to understand and support their product needs, no matter how big or small their project is. You will be an excellent communicator, preferably with existing contacts from within the industry.
You will also have proven experience within the construction supply sector, strong sales ability and margin awareness. Due to the nature of the role you will have a full driving licence and be prepared to travel as and when required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintains and grows a portfolio of approximately 250 customers.
* Identifies business opportunities by identifying prospects and evaluating their position in the industry, researching and analysing sales options.
· Pro-active hands-on approach with existing and new customers and seek and promote opportunities to upsell by advising customers of associated products and or our vast range of products.
* Travel to clients both existing and new to maintain, strengthen and develop relationships.
* Build Sales, pursue leads and follow up on existing enquiries and leads.
* Generate new business, increases sales, and be actively involved in the company's growth.
· Proactively identify and contact new and potential customers, including site visits if necessary.
· Liaise with customers both over the phone and in person, providing quotes, taking orders, resolving issues and offering product advice.
· Effectively managing customer accounts,
· Advise customers of our products and have an excellent understanding of the products we sell.
* Sells products by establishing contact and developing relationships with customers, advising them of our product range and recommending solutions to fit their requirements.
* Maintains relationships with clients by providing support, information and guidance and recommending new opportunities.
* Identifies product improvements or new products by remaining current on industry trends, market activities, and competitors.
· Possesses a good understanding of the business EPOS system.
· Process quotations to orders.
· Work with other internal departments to achieve customers' expectations.
* Keeps up to date records of all contacts with existing and prospective customers, as directed by your manager, within our CRM system.
* Prepares reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information.
* Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing Lanlee standards.
* Attend meetings when required.
* Any other reasonable duties which may be required by the Company from time to time.
Skills and Experience Required:
Minimum of 2 years of sales experience working in the Timber and or Builders Merchant Sector.
Customer focused approach and the ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships with customers.
A commercial approach to drive sales and maximise margins, whilst ensuring our customers always walk away happy.
Self-motivated, genuine with a positive attitude, clear focus and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
A professional attitude and demeanour.
Confident and professional telephone manner.
The ability to engage with colleagues to help to achieve the company's goals.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent negotiation and relationship skills to all levels.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong commercial and financial awareness.
A full and valid driving license is essential.
Good IT skills & PC literate
Salary:
We are offering a competitive salary dependent on experience with additional open ended bonuses dependent on performance.
Hours of work:
The business hours are Monday to Friday (7:30am-5:00pm) with Saturdays (8:30am-1:00pm) on a rota basis. You will not be expected to work all of these hours, and flexibility is available.
