We are seeking a Production Planner reporting to the Director of Supply Chain.
Job Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for establishing and maintaining the Master Delivery Schedule and coordinating with departments to ensure resources required to meet the schedule are adequate and assigned. The Planner will ensure any material issues that affect the plan are communicated to the appropriate organization and will release work orders to ensure customer delivery dates are achieved. The Planner will ensure kitting/production schedules and resources are established and assigned to meet the master delivery schedule. This role will coordinate with Program Management, Procurement, Production, and Stockroom teams to ensure execution of the schedules developed.
Accountabilities / Scope
Interfaces:
* Internal: Works closely with production, purchasing, stockroom, program management, quality assurance, and finance.
People Managed: None
Decisions:
* Determines production priorities for products when multiple demands exist.
* Decides when to elevate material or product delivery issues to management.
* Executes ERP/MRP transactions and verifies accuracy before committing updates.
Key Responsibilities
* Track materials required for production.
* Coordinate with purchasing to resolve material delivery or quality issues.
* Collaborate with purchasing to align material needs with schedules.
* Plan, prepare, issue, maintain and control production schedule to ensure the optimal flow of materials, documentation and information to meet production requirements and customer expectations.
* Review MRP exception messages to determine impact on production schedule. Brief Operations and Program Managers on potential impacts.
* Follow up with all teams to expedite flow of material, BOMs, production documents and routers to meet production schedule.
* Coordinate priority requests from Program Managers.
* Create capacity reports and interface with departments to plan for and resolve capacity issues.
Knowledge / Skills
* Familiarity with manufacturing processes and supply chain operations.
* Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems.
* Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
* Effective communication and collaboration across departments.
* Ability to troubleshoot and resolve material discrepancies quickly.
* Knowledge of safety practices in a manufacturing/warehouse environment.
Education / Experience
* High school diploma or GED required.
* Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
* 2–4 years of experience in materials coordination, inventory management, or production planning/control in a manufacturing environment.
* Experience with ERP/MRP systems required.
