Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, compassionate and clinically-experienced Occupational Therapist to join the newly established Learning Disability and Autism (LDA) Outreach Team at Devon Partnership NHS Trust.
This exciting clinical Band 7 role will involve working in collaboration with other LDA Outreach colleagues, community learning disability and autism colleagues in addition to colleagues from 'The Brook' our 10-bedded Learning Disability and Autism inpatient unit. We will offer intensive short-term interventions to support admission-vulnerable service users with learning disability and/or autism and co-morbid mental health condition across Devon to prevent admission where clinically indicated. In addition, we will work with partner agencies and our colleagues at The Brook to support for a short period post-discharge.

We are seeking an OT colleague with a passion for working with this complex client group, relevant or transferrable clinical knowledge, advanced clinical leadership skills and the ability to prioritise and manage workload. Excellent safeguarding, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act knowledge is also welcomed in addition to advanced interpersonal, communication, formulation and risk assessment skills.

Main duties of the job
We welcome applications from registered Occupational Therapists who can demonstrate and promote effective clinical leadership and practice to the highest evidence-based standards.
Post holders will require the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a multi-professional team.
A central part of the role involves triaging, assessing, planning and delivering complex care packages to admission-vulnerable service users across Devon and for those discharged from The Brook, whilst ensuring proactive liaison with other partner agencies, families and care providers at every stage of care.
As this is a new service, relevant and transferrable skills and experience are welcomed and the role will also provide the opportunity for service development/evaluation opportunities.
