Job Description
New Directions is currently seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant for a long-term position at a well-regarded SEND school in Liverpool.
This role, is to start in September and involves working closely with students who present significant behavioural challenges, providing tailored support to foster a positive, nurturing learning environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in helping students manage their behaviours, overcome personal challenges, and achieve their full potential.
The Role
• Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
• Help to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using a calm and consistent approach
• Support pupils in accessing a personalised curriculum tailored to their individual needs
The Ideal Candidate
• Experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs
• Is confident in managing challenging behaviour in a patient and proactive manner
• Demonstrates resilience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable pupils
Requirements
• References covering the last 5 years
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
