Protocol Education is working closely with specialist and mainstream schools in Peterlee, who are looking to appoint compassionate and proactive SEND Teaching Assistants to join their teams.
These settings support pupils with a range of needs including autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, global developmental delay, and complex learning needs.
The Role:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
* Support learning activities planned by the class teacher or SENCO.
* Use visuals, routines, and sensory strategies to aid learning and emotional regulation.
* Provide personal care support where necessary.
* Monitor progress and behaviour, feeding back to staff and parents/carers.
You Will Be:
* Experienced in working with children with SEND (in a school, care, or community setting).
* Positive, patient, and adaptable in your approach.
* A good communicator who builds trust with pupils and staff.
* Knowledgeable in SEND strategies or open to learning (e.g., PECS, Makaton, sensory circuits).
* Willing to apply for (or already hold) an Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
