Job Title: Health and Social Care Assessor
Hours: 35.5 hours per week
Contract Type: Temporary (ongoing)
Pay Rate: £25 per hour (PAYE) or £28 per hour (Self-Employed)
Role Overview
We are looking for a knowledgeable and learner-focused Health and Social Care Assessor to support individuals undertaking vocational qualifications within the sector. You will play a key role in guiding learners through their programmes, helping them build competence, confidence, and professional standards required in care settings.
This role involves working closely with learners in real work environments, supporting achievement of qualifications while ensuring compliance with current sector regulations, frameworks, and awarding body requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver end-to-end assessment and support for learners undertaking Health and Social Care qualifications (Level 2–5 and/or apprenticeship standards).
* Conduct workplace observations, professional discussions, and reviews to assess competency.
* Provide structured coaching, feedback, and action planning to support learner progression and timely achievement.
* Monitor and track learner progress using e-portfolio systems and internal tracking processes.
* Prepare learners for gateway requirements and, where applicable, end-point assessment (EPA).
* Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation in line with quality assurance and awarding body standards.
* Promote safeguarding, Prevent duty, equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout delivery.
* Liaise effectively with employers to ensure learners are supported in the workplace.
* Keep up to date with changes in legislation, standards, and best practice within the health and social care sector.
Essential Requirements
* Occupational competence within Health and Social Care.
* Relevant qualification in Health and Social Care (minimum Level 3; Level 5 desirable).
* Assessor qualification (e.g., CAVA, TAQA, A1, or equivalent).
* Experience assessing vocational qualifications and/or apprenticeships.
* Understanding of current care standards, regulations, and frameworks.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable
* IQA qualification or experience supporting internal quality assurance processes.
* Experience delivering or assessing apprenticeship standards.
* Familiarity with e-portfolio systems.
* Teaching or training qualification (e.g., PTLLS, AET).
