Main duties of the job This post will be based in the Cardiothoracic Radiology Department of Southampton General Hospital. You will be fully accredited in the specialty of Clinical Radiology and should have significant additional training in the sub-specialty of Cardiothoracic Radiology.
You will support the existing coronary CT imaging service at UHS, cardiac MR, interstitial lung disease (ILD) service and TLHC programme. This is a regional service and has a dedicated MRI and plain film facility.
You are required to deliver a tertiary cardiac and thoracic imaging service and should ideally have undertaken significant subspecialist training in cardiothoracic imaging.
Experience in Cardiac MRI, cardiac CT and thoracic imaging is essential. You will have experience in stress imaging and congenital heart disease is desirable.
Significant experience in HRCT imaging and ILD MDT participation as well as independent reporting experience of TLHC (or lung cancer screening pilot) CTs would be desirable. The department provides a dedicated on‑call service for cardiothoracic imaging, which you will be part of. The care group has undergone significant modernisation in the last five years as a result of the managed equipment service with new equipment and facilities throughout the care group. Radiology has a high profile within the Trust and across the region.

Qualifications, Training & Experience
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
GMC registration with a licence to practise
Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
FRCR or equivalent
Completed general training in Radiology to specialist level in a recognised training centre to standard of RCR UK training (or appropriate equivalent).
Significant advanced clinical experience subspecialist tertiary referral centre training in at least 2 (but ideally all 3 of) Cardiac CT, Cardiac MR and thoracic CT modalities (ideally at least 12 months or equivalent)
Thoracic intervention including chest US guided procedures
CCT Radiology
BASCI Level 2 Accreditation or higher (or equivalent SCCT/EACVI) in cardiac CT
EACVI or SCMR level 2 accreditation or higher (or equivalent) in cardiac MRI
Undertaken international post- CCT Fellowship in Thoracic/Cardiothoracic imaging
Training and significant experience in ILD CT/MDT
Training in congenital heart disease imaging
Training and significant independent reporting of targeted lung health check CT (or equivalent lung cancer screening pilot/trials CT)
Experience using advanced post-processing or reporting imaging tools in clinical or research practice
Publications in peer review literature specific to cardiothoracic radiology
Oral presentations at national/international meetings specific to cardiothoracic radiology
Aptitudes and skills
