We have transformed our service and continue to be ambitious for our children and young people. Our Education Psychology Service supports positive change and opportunities for families within Southampton City, with a focus on developing skills and specialist interests in a friendly, dynamic team.
We welcome applications from psychologists who want to develop toward becoming an Educational Psychologist and consider a doctoral course in the future. The role is part of the Educational Psychology Service within the Education Team, aligned with the Children’s Social Care (CSC) reforms and focused on supporting families in Southampton.
Responsibilities
* Work under the guidance of a qualified Educational Psychologist (EP).
* Delivering and evaluating training for schools.
* Conducting research and supporting projects that create positive change for children and young people.
* Provide direct support to children through observations and non-statutory assessments.
* Engage with school staff, parents and professionals to apply psychological principles in educational settings.
* Contribute to non-statutory services for schools and organisations to develop skills and interests.
About the Team and Role Context
Our team maintains good relationships with schools and settings and collaborates with local CAMHS services. We contribute to Mental Health in Schools initiatives and training for Education Mental Health Practitioners with Southampton University, alongside other professionals. This creates varied opportunities to apply psychology in education.
What We Can Offer You
* Salary: £37,280 – £40,778. Starting salary is £37,280 with annual progression through the salary bands.
