Overview
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced construction solicitor to join a well-established and growing national practice. This role is suited to a lawyer with solid post-qualification experience who is looking to work within a collaborative team on a broad mix of construction matters, with a particular emphasis on disputes alongside exposure to advisory and transactional work.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting senior lawyers, managing their own caseload, and contributing to the continued growth of the practice through client engagement and business development.
Key Responsibilities
* Advising clients on a wide range of construction and engineering matters, including disputes, risk management and project issues
* Managing contentious matters, including adjudication, arbitration and litigation
* Supporting on non-contentious work such as contract drafting, procurement strategies and project advisory
* Acting for a diverse client base including developers, contractors, consultants and public sector bodies
* Providing commercially focused, pragmatic legal advice tailored to client objectives
* Working closely with colleagues across multiple disciplines to deliver integrated solutions
* Building and maintaining strong client relationships and identifying opportunities for further work
* Assisting with business development initiatives and contributing to team growth
* Supervising junior lawyers where appropriate.
The Team
The construction team advises on a wide variety of projects across the UK and internationally. Clients include major developers, housebuilders, contractors, consultants, local authorities and institutional organisations.
The team handles both contentious and non-contentious matters and is known for its collaborative approach and strong technical expertise.
Candidate Requirements
* Qualified solicitor with approximately 4+ years’ PQE in construction law
* Strong grounding in construction disputes, with wider experience across construction matters desirable
* Sound understanding of construction law principles and industry practices
* Experience acting for a range of sector participants (e.g. developers, contractors or consultants)
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
* Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels
* Commercially aware with an interest in the broader industry landscape
* Self-motivated, proactive and capable of working both independently and as part of a team
* Able to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
